The new football season has kicked off in style, and this weekend promises even more drama across England, Spain, and Italy. Fans are in for a feast of goals, rivalries, and fresh storylines, all live on DStv and GOtv.
Premier League: Momentum Building Early
The Premier League wasted no time delivering action on the opening weekend, and the momentum rolls into another round of blockbuster fixtures.
Friday night opens with West Ham vs Chelsea at 8:00 pm. The Hammers are still smarting from their 3–0 defeat to Sunderland, while Chelsea will be eager to register their first win after a goalless game with Crystal Palace.
Saturday’s early kick-off is set for a thriller at the Etihad as Manchester City host Tottenham at 12:30 pm. City were ruthless in their 4–0 demolition of Wolves, but Spurs arrive brimming with confidence after a commanding 3–0 win over Burnley.
Later that evening, Arsenal will welcome Leeds United at 5:30 pm. The Gunners edged Manchester United 1–0 at Old Trafford last weekend and will be keen to maintain their form, while Leeds chase an early-season upset.
Sunday’s spotlight shines on Fulham vs Manchester United at 4:30 pm. United will look to bounce back after defeat to Arsenal, while Fulham aim to make a statement at Craven Cottage.
The round closes on Monday night with Newcastle vs Liverpool at 8:00 pm. The Reds opened with a thrilling 4–2 win over Bournemouth and face a stern test away from home.
La Liga: Spanish Giants Make Early Statements
The La Liga season is already alive with intrigue. Barcelona stamped authority with a convincing 3–0 victory over Mallorca last weekend, with Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal on target. They now travel to face Levante on Saturday at 8:30 pm.
Atlético Madrid stumbled to a 2–1 defeat at Espanyol, despite Julián Álvarez giving them the lead. Diego Simeone’s men will be desperate to respond when they host Elche on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
Real Madrid began their campaign with a tight 1–0 win against Osasuna, secured by a Kylian Mbappé penalty. This Sunday, they are away to Oviedo at 8:30 pm. With early pressure mounting, the Spanish title race is already shaping up to be intense.
Serie A: Heavyweights Kick Off Their Campaigns
Italy’s big guns also step into the spotlight this weekend as the Serie A season gets underway. Napoli begin their title defence away to Sassuolo on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
AC Milan host Cremonese later that night at 7:45 pm, eager to open strongly in front of their fans. Juventus round out the weekend when they welcome Parma on Sunday at 7:45 pm.
The race for dominance in Italy begins, and these opening fixtures will set the tone for the season.
