Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a former lawmaker, said in an exclusive interview on Arise Television that he believes that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not handling situations in Nigeria with the same approach he used handling those in Lagos State when he was the governor.
Obanikoro, during the course of the interview, said, “I can tell you for free that if the Asiwaju is the Asiwaju that I know, he is always looking for ways.
On how competent the president is on issues relating to reducing the cost of governance, Obanikoro said, “Don’t forget that he is an auditor by background, and he is looking at ways to reduce the cost of governance.
“I do not believe Asiwaju is approaching the situation of our great country as if he is the governor of Lagos; this is a mistake on the part of anybody who is making these kinds of assumptions.”.
On the current economic hardship in Nigeria in comparison with what has happened in the past under President Tinubu, Obanikoro said, “Let’s be honest; we’ve faced this same situation in Lagos. In the first six to seven months of our administration, we went through hell to the extent that people almost threw stones at us, but about a year later, everybody was singing the praise of Asiwaju.
“He has said that he wants to own the liabilities and the assets, but then we must show understanding and just go along with him to see whether he has the capacity to deliver or not.
“It is a bold step to walk to the podium and say I am removing fuel subsidies and the subsidy on dollars.
