In a blunt interview on TVC TV, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike clarifies the roles of the FCT senator and the FCT minister, explaining that the senator’s role is to make laws, while his role is to implement the president’s agenda. He argues that the senator’s expectation that he should be supervised by her is incorrect and that she should instead focus on working with him to achieve the president’s agenda.
He said, “Everybody is commending what is going on in FCT, you are busy saying I didn’t carry you along. The senator of the FCT said that she is supposed to be the eye of the FCT. That is lawmaking. I am the eyes of the FCT. The eyes of the FCT in terms of implementing Mr President’s agenda is me. Mr. President made a promise to FCT. He told them I had a renewed hope agenda. I want to bring back their hope. In doing that, I need somebody who should at least represent me in making my agenda achievable. I’m here to implement Mr. President’s agenda. I’m not here for the senator to supervise me, she didn’t appoint me.”
