It has become glaring that the political situation in Anambra is taking a different dimension and becoming turbulent with all kinds of mischief, all in a bid to outstage the incumbent Governor, who has been variously acknowledged as a performing Governor. More concerning is the desperation of the mischief makers who often misinterpret Governor  Charles Chukwuma Soludo to either widen their imaginary Gulf between Peter Obi and the governor or deepen their hate campaign to undermine the popularity of the Solution man of the people. Undoubtedly, Governor Chukwuma Soludo is a man of his own political and leadership convictions. But some inflexibly partisan minds will expect a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a professor of Economics to toe a shallow path rooted in irrational political leaning. Unfortunately, their efforts are channelled through an uninformed ideology of coercion, which a man of Soludo’s standing will easily brush off because his performance speaks for him.  While Soludo is busy transforming Anambra, some people are uncomfortable because no man in Igbo land must do well just to let Obi shine.

The recent intolerant attitude of Peter Obi’s supporters and a section of the media where mischievously the statement of Governor Soludo at a campaign rally held at Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, that some politicians would come up with the notion of ruling for only a single term, four years, was taken out of context and erroneously interpreted to be directed at Peter Obi is a classic case of adverse appropriation of unintended target who has obviously misread the situation.

This has generated concerns as stakeholders in Anambra’s political circle have condemned the reaction of Peter Obi and his supporters in totality. Truth be told, and if Peter Obi must hear, he goofed on his recent misreading and interpretation of Governor Soludo’s statement, which wasn’t directed at him. It is even more concerning that some publications twisted a campaign message at a state political campaign rally and ingeniously misinterpreted it as directed at Peter Obi.

They dismissed the claims as unfounded and politically motivated, insisting that Soludo did not refer to Obi during his speech at the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) endorsement rally.

Reacting to the reckless utterances of Peter Obi’s supporters, a prominent Igbo legal luminary, Barrister Darlington Agomuo, stated, “I will advise Peter Obi to stop talking ahead of time. If you check very well, Soludo was not referring to Obi. Go and listen to the context of that statement. Ukachukwu said he would take one term in Anambra, and Soludo told him that it would alter the political permutation in Anambra, and that was why he said so.”

“He didn’t mention Peter Obi; it was a coincidence that Soludo made the statement when Obi was talking about one term. If you look at the campaign statement, Governor Soludo was not referring to Peter Obi specifically,” Barr. Agomuo affirmed.

According to the Barr. Agomuo, Peter Obi replied ahead of time without looking to see whether it was for him or Ukachukwu. “If it is for Obi, Governor Soludo would not have said it would alter the political permutation in Anambra, that after him, Anambra Central will take, and that was why I said it wasn’t for him.”

Agomuo asserted that Obi said he would do one term and start referring to the Late President J.F. Kennedy of the United States and Nelson Mandela of South Africa. “Mandela served one term because of ill-health, Kennedy was killed in office, and those permutations are not there, not even in our constitution. The constitution recognises that you must serve one term, so why are you repeating it, as if you are entitled to two terms but want to take only one term?” he explained.

Barr. Agomuo continued, saying, “That question does not add up, and it is just that we are progressing in infamy. That convention that when you enter into office, you must serve two terms is affecting our country, that even if you are not doing well, you must serve the two terms.”

“If Soludo eats Lunch, the hypnotised Obidiots will say it is because Peter Obi has not had breakfast. Should he stop being himself, a performer, or deliberately fail to make Obi shine? No discerning mind will approve the latter,” one of the stakeholders stated.
