The Ogun State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for sponsoring 100 Muslims to perform the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Alhaji Tajudeen Jimoh Alao, and released by the Secretary, Alhaji Olaleye Rasheed Damilare, MURIC described the gesture as a rare display of selfless leadership, religious tolerance, and deep spiritual commitment.
“This commendable act is not only generous in material terms but is also spiritually profound,” the statement read. “At a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship, this initiative has restored hope and joy to 100 Muslim families across Ogun State and beyond.”
MURIC referenced a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) which says, “Whoever helps his brother in need, Allah will definitely be there in his own time of need” (Sahih Muslim 2699), noting that the sponsorship is a significant act of faith and a spiritual investment that will not go unnoticed by Allah.
The group also highlighted Senator Yayi’s past contributions to sectors like education, healthcare, and youth empowerment but emphasized that this Hajj sponsorship stands out. “This is a divine act—one that only individuals with deep spiritual insight and selfless compassion can undertake,” the group stated.
MURIC offered prayers for the senator, asking Allah to accept the sponsorship as sadaqah jariyah (continuous charity), bless him with a long life, and grant him success both in this world and the hereafter.
The group further called on other Muslim public office holders and philanthropists to emulate Senator Yayi’s example, stressing that true leadership lies not only in wielding political power but also in positively touching lives and uplifting the spiritually inclined.
“Senator Yayi,” the statement concluded, “may your reward be as vast as the plains of ‘Arafah and as radiant as the white garments of the pilgrims.”
