In a landmark event that will be remembered for generations, the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, has once again demonstrated visionary leadership by immortalising some of Lagos Mainland’s most distinguished sons through the official naming of several streets in their honour.

The historic ceremony, held as part of the grand celebration of the 70th Birthday Anniversary of former Executive Chairman, Dr. Babatunde Sulaiman Larinde, brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, party faithful, community stakeholders, residents, family members, and well-wishers to witness an occasion that celebrated excellence, selfless service, and enduring legacies.

Speaking during the event, Mayor Emilagba stated that the decision to rename the streets was borne out of the administration’s commitment to preserving history and ensuring that the sacrifices and remarkable contributions of exceptional leaders remain permanently etched in the hearts of present and future generations.

According to the Chairman, leadership is not merely about occupying positions of authority but about making meaningful contributions that positively transform lives and communities. He noted that every individual honoured has played a significant role in the political, social, and developmental advancement of Lagos Mainland and deserves to be celebrated beyond words.

Mayor Emilagba emphasized that the initiative reflects an administration that believes in honouring excellence while people are alive to appreciate such recognition. He described the honourees as leaders whose dedication, commitment to public service, and unwavering passion for community development have inspired countless individuals across Lagos Mainland.

He further stressed that recognising those who have served with distinction encourages younger generations to embrace integrity, selflessness, and purposeful leadership. According to him, preserving the legacies of exemplary leaders is an investment in the future, as it reminds society of the values that build strong and progressive communities.

The atmosphere throughout the ceremony was filled with excitement and admiration as residents applauded the thoughtful initiative. Family members, friends, political associates, and community leaders described the gesture as timely and well deserved, commending Mayor Emilagba for promoting a culture of appreciation, gratitude, and historical preservation.

The event further reinforced the administration’s unwavering commitment to building a Greater Lagos Mainland through people-centred governance, inclusiveness, and the recognition of individuals whose lives have positively shaped the local government.

The street naming ceremony stands as another testament to Mayor Emilagba’s vision of celebrating excellence, preserving history, and inspiring future generations through meaningful recognition of those who have served with honour and distinction.

Congratulations once again to all the distinguished honourees whose names will now forever remain part of the rich history and landscape of Lagos Mainland.
