The Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Mayor Jubril Emilagba Kolawole, has said his administration delivered in one year what previous governments could not achieve in eight years through what he described as a “capture agenda” for development.
Speaking during a media briefing to mark his first year in office, the Chairman explained that “capture” does not mean force, but a deliberate and rapid delivery of the dividends of democracy to residents.
“Within one year, we demolished the dilapidated Odalakin Police Post and reconstructed a new one within 100 days. It was commissioned by the then Commissioner of Police, now AIG Zone 2, and has since been upgraded to a full Police Station and taken over by the IGP’s IRT team from Abuja,” he said.

To strengthen security, the council distributed 7 mini-buses to the Police and local security outfits. An additional 18 mini-buses were later distributed to youths across Lagos Mainland.
In relations to health matters, the Chairman said the council facilitated 29 hernia surgeries in the first three months and 7 more surgeries last month, including two critical cases handled by private doctors. Traders also received cash support during road commissioning to boost their businesses. He also publicly announced plans to sink boreholes across the council area soon.
In a bid to improve staff welfare, the Chairman said the council procured a new 32-seater staff bus. He added that 822 non-pensionable staff are placed on monthly salary to complement the Federal Government’s welfare initiatives under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He ended the event by appreciating leaders including Hon. Olajide Jimoh, Hon. Olanrewaju Oshun, Dr. Monsuru Owolabi, Dr. Babatunde Ladi, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi and Hon. Iyabo Sola Eletu for their guidance. He also thanked his two wives for their support.
