Oba Fatai Akamo, the Olu of Itori in Ogun State, recently claimed that he squatted while speaking to Governor Dapo Abiodun at a public occasion. He did this in order to demonstrate his profound respect and thanks to the governor for the promises he made to better his village. Following the governor’s response to criticism regarding the scene, this explanation was provided.
In a video that has gone viral, Oba Akamo is heard saying that if their meeting had been private, he would have shown even greater reverence to Abiodun by prostrating himself and rolling on the ground in front of him. He divulged the fact that Governor Abiodun had provided him with some very pleasing information.
His statement was that Abiodun had assured him that construction on the express road in his neighbourhood would soon begin and that Abiodun had promised that the construction would begin within three weeks. It was also stated by him that Abiodun gave him the assurance that the general hospital in his community would be finished within a period of six months.
In Oba Akamo’s words, “If our meeting had been private, I would have prostrated and rolled on the ground in reverence before him (Abiodun)”
