Most Nigerians already know Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO Plc) as the country’s trailblazing financial institution. For the records, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO)’s GTBank stands as the first Bank to introduce cardless transactions on Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in multiple branches across Nigeria. This innovation empowers customers who may have forgotten their ATM cards or do not have one to access cash conveniently anytime, anywhere.
GTCO also pioneered the concept of fully unmanned electronic branches (e-branches), where one’s interaction is solely with ATMS and other technological tools, without having to be attended to by bank officials or tellers. This innovation ensures that you can withdraw, deposit, send money, and do much more, in spite of Bank offices being closed for daily business and holidays. It also caters to situations where anyone might deem human interaction unnecessary, and/or when social distancing is required.
GTCO consistently leads in pioneering grand interventions and positive disruptions within Nigeria’s banking sector, setting trends that others strive to emulate. Nigerians have observed as other banks now endeavour to replicate and mimic these innovative advancements.
GTCO is at it again! Thanks to the latest upgrade of their Point of Sale machines, now you can access cash from GTBank POS machines without your ATM card or mobile transfers. Similar to cardless transactions, whether you’re in a village, inner city, or suburban area, once you locate a GTBank POS machine, accessing your cash becomes easy-peasy.
This remarkable cardless POS transaction occurs through a process that utilizes your thumbprint and involves just four simple steps:
1. Merchant selects ‘pay with fingerprint’ on the home screen of their POS machine.
2. Merchant enters the amount and then customer provides an 11-digit phone number.
3. Customer selects either the right thumb or left thumb and places the selected thumb on the fingerprint reader.
4. Upon successful completion, the merchant gives the customer a transaction receipt as confirmation. Voila! The customer goes away excited with cash.
This incredible innovation was introduced to the audience’s delight during the recently concluded GTCO Food and Drink Festival at GTCentre, Lagos, from April 26th to 28th, 2024. Numerous food enthusiasts and pleasure-seekers who attended the festival successfully conducted transactions using the cardless POS machines.
In the near future, expect cardless POS machines to populate every corner of your neighbuorhood. You should take advantage of their amazing benefits.
GTCO remains at the forefront, unwavering in its commitment to innovation and consistently pushing boundaries! Step into the future of banking where withdrawing cash without the need for a physical card is as easy as following 4 straightforward steps.
