Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has improved healthcare delivery at the General Hospital, Anaku, in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra state, with the supply and installation of electrical and mechanical appurtenances.

Governor Soludo’s administration awarded the contract for the provision of the equipment at the 17th session of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) at the Light House, Awka, the state capital, on the 30th of July 2025.

This State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, affirmed that the project is part of Governor Soludo’s transformation of the health sector, which has enjoyed lots of development since the three-year administration of the governor.

This has led to the recognition as the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast region and overall, nationally.  On it, Anambra received a total of $1,200,000 for the awards, $500,000 for the feat in the Southeast, and $700,000 for overall excellence in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge.

Popularly known as the ‘Solution,’ for his amazing performance in governance and the revamping of vital sectors of the state’s economy, including health, Governor Soludo has upgraded primary healthcare centres and constructed five new general hospitals, equipping them with state-of-the-art facilities and skilled medical personnel for quality services.

He has approved free antenatal care for pregnant women in the state, provided modern infrastructure at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital at Nawfia, employed 1,000 health workers, including doctors, nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and medical laboratory technicians, and introduced telemedicine for effective healthcare delivery.

The governor has also awarded the contract for the additional works on the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern trauma centre at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.

Governor Soludo’s innovative leadership has also earned Anambra the fourth position in the evaluation of BudgIT’s State of States 2024 Report in overall fiscal performance and sustainability. This reflects Anambra State’s exceptional performance in both fiscal and healthcare metrics.
