…As Emir of Gombe Lauds Inuwa’s Superlative Performance,  Examplary Leadership

“Let us do politics without bitterness; politics of ideology and understanding; politics without insult or violence; politics that will bring development to our dear state”.

These were some of the words of Gombe State Governor,  Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya while delivering his remarks at the closing session of this year’s Ramadan Tafsir atbthe Modibbo Bubayero Juma’at Mosque,  Emir’s Palace Gombe.

He warned that his administration would not allow any situation that will threaten the lives of the people. “We will not allow a situation whereby security of lives and property of the citizenry are put at stake” he warned.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya called on politicians from all divides and their supporters to exercise their political rights without infringing on the rights of others.

The governor called for more prayers at this critical time that the country is approaching 2023 elections amidst enormous socio-economic and security challenges.

He described peace as panacea for societal development and therefore called on people of the state to continue to live in peace and harmony as no society can develop without tranquility.

“Security of lives and property of the citizenry, employment and overall welfare of the people are what we give more priority to.

“That is why in all the tafsir places we visited, we preached the gospel of peace, unity and security, as no society develops without peace”, he added.

The governor cautioned youths to shun violence and abstain from drug abuse especially at this critical time when the 2023 elections are around the corner.

The governor expressed dismay over high rate of drug abuse among youths in the state, saying that, “Gombe was found to have higher prevalence of drug abuse than other states in Northeast”.

He said, “though we know some bad eggs are using the relative peace we enjoy here in Gombe to perpetrate their heinous acts, but it is pertinent to call on our people, especially youths to desist from this act as it spoils their future and render them useless in the society.

He explained that drug abuse is the mother of all evils and that all other criminal activities can be linked to drugs. “From kidnapping to armed robbery, all criminal tenancies have correlation with drug users”, he said.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the occasion to charge the people of Gombe State to ensure they obtain their voter’s card or renew in case of damage, loss or change of location, saying that it is the only way people can bring the leadership they want.

The Governor thanked all stakeholders who contributed towards the success of the month-long Tafsir at the mosque and throughout the State, maintaining that the exercise has brought a lot of blessings to the state and the country in general

In his remarks, The Emir of Gombe and Chairman Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Alh. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III

commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the developmental projects he is executing across Gombe State. “We are all witnesses that in the last three years, Gombe has developed unprecedentedly in terms of infrastructure like roads, schools, hospitals as well as human capital development”, he said.

He praised the tour undertaken by the governor to various tafsir places, describing the gesture as “leadership by example”. He said the visits have given people sense of belonging and allowed the governor to interact with his subjects and listen to their pleas.

He then urged people to pray for the success of the present administration under Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the state and the country.

The royal father thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for attending the tafsir closing session at the mosque, maintaining that it’s is a clear show of concern to religious activities and to the palace.

He also thanked all the clerics who oversaw this year’s Ramadan Tafsir sessions at different places in the state capital, especially the presiding cleric of Modibbo Bubayero Mosque who has been presiding over the annual Tafsir for the past 30 years in the mosque.

Earlier speaking, Former Grand Khadi Usman Baba Liman who is the presiding cleric for this year’s tafsir, appreciated the contribution of all stakeholders including security men, First Aid Groups, Mosque Committee, Leaders of Islamic Organisations etc who contributed towards the success of this year’s Ramadan Tafsir.

In their separate goodwill messages, Shaikh Modibbo Isa Shongo, Shaikh Hamza Adamu Abdulhamid and Shaikh Isa Taliyawa admonished Muslims to be their brothers keepers, respect and revere leaders, and participate in activities of national interest.

Special prayers were offered for peace and progress of Gombe State and the nation in general.
