The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) and the Directorate of State Security Services, (DSS) have been asked to probe a pipeline protection company operating in the Niger-Delta

Infrastructure of Nigeria Ltd for various unprofessional conducts that threaten economic stability in Nigeria.

The Pipeline Infrastructure of Nigeria Ltd is accused of various infractions that undermine national security and effective oil production in the Niger-Delta.

In a statement at the weekend signed by Dr Aaron Weri-Ogbede, the President, West African Coalition Against Corruption in the Oil Sector, (WACACOS) said the Nigerian authorities need to review the the performance of pipeline protection companies who lack competence to meet the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group said Pipeline Infrastructure has refused to implement it’s agenda in line with best global practices adding that if care is not taken, Nigeria may not be able to meet the 2million per day quota.

The group said PINL has started to slide away from expectations of the people of Niger Delta through its inability to meet up with set targets.

The Professional group asked President Tinubu to investigate the alleged various debts owed by PINL accusing the group of emerging after the collapse of OMS which was run bankrupt by the same people currently in the affairs of PINL

It accused the group of taking loans from NIMASA and some other banks which the group said led to the collapse of OMS, which was the predecessor of PINL.

It urged the Federal Government to investigate reports that PINL is riddled with corruption and incompetence

“President Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, (NSA) needs to investigate PINL for it’s emerging poor management strategy which has made it impossible for the group to deliver on its mandate,’ the anti corruption group said.

It accused the oil protection company of of poor management of human and material resources which it said resulted in incompetence of the organisation.

It argued that from reports, PINL said it spent N6b on intelligence which is almost the same with the entire budget of the Directorate of Military Intelligence, DMI. This shows clearly that the PINL management lacks accountability not only to the Federal Government but also to the people of the Niger Delta.

It accused the company of poor managerial skill and weak capacity which it said undermine the group’s ability to meet the expectations of the Nigerian Government.

Attempts to reach the management PINL through phone calls on Monday did not yield fruits.
