This year, Dolly Children Foundation proudly commemorates 16 years of unwavering service to vulnerable children in Nigeria, celebrating a journey defined by resilience, transformation, and hope. Since its inception in 2009, the Foundation has directly touched the lives of over 23,000 children, equipping them with access to quality education and life-changing empowerment initiatives.
In a recent interview with BusinessDay Weekender, Adedolapo Osuntuyi, Founder and Executive Director of Dolly Children Foundation, offered a compelling reflection on the organization’s journey. For Osuntuyi, the milestone represents far more than numerical achievement; it stands as a testament to the power of collective action and unwavering belief in the potential of every child. “Reaching over 23,000 children isn’t just a metric — it’s a movement of hope,” she affirmed. “It’s about creating real, lasting change in communities where quality education was once a distant dream.”
Over the past 16 years, Dolly Children Foundation has established itself as a force for change through a deeply rooted community model focused on early intervention, child rights advocacy, and holistic educational support. Working primarily in low-income and underserved communities, the Foundation’s programs have not only granted children access to schooling but have also fostered a renewed sense of identity, purpose, and ambition.
Children who once faced bleak prospects are now finding their voices, pursuing leadership roles within their communities, and inspiring a new generation to dream beyond the barriers of poverty and marginalization.
Osuntuyi, while celebrating the Foundation’s achievements, also highlighted the persistent systemic challenges faced by grassroots education initiatives in Nigeria. She emphasized that true change requires sustainable partnerships, consistent public investment, and community-driven strategies. “The heart of our work is not in the numbers, but in the stories,” she shared. “When a child who was once out of school becomes a leader or an advocate for change in their community, that’s the real success. Those are the moments that define our impact.”
Throughout its journey, Dolly Children Foundation has consistently advocated for inclusive educational development — emphasizing that real progress is only possible when every child, regardless of background or circumstance, is given an equitable chance to succeed.
As it marks this important anniversary, the Foundation remains committed to expanding its reach and deepening its impact. It calls upon all stakeholders — individuals, private organizations, government agencies, and international bodies — to support initiatives that prioritize grassroots education, protect child rights, and promote systemic reforms that dismantle barriers to learning.
Through collaboration, innovation, and shared purpose, Dolly Children Foundation envisions a future where no child is left behind and where education becomes a true tool of empowerment and transformation for all.
