A group, Coalition of Oshodi Indigenes, has sent a Save our Soul (SOS) message to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, to stop Chairman of the State Parks and Garage Management Committee, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), from forcing people to get the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

The coalition’s spokesman, Comrade Waheed Salako, said the move was to mobilise the people and rig the election for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, Akinsanya has also directed officials of the committee and people working at the garages to join the APC.

He said: “We reiterate that every individual is entitled to his or her fundamental human rights, which include freedom to associate with any political party without any coercion. We appeal to the Commissioner of Police to call Akinsanya to order.”

But Akinsanya described the allegation as ‘untrue.’ According to him, members of the coalition are working for the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP).

“As a member of the APC, is there anything wrong in canvassing votes for my party by encouraging people to get their PVCs? I can only appeal to people to get their voter’s card. Nobody is forcing anyone. The coalition and our people at the garages are at liberty to perform their civic duties without harassment or molestation. No one is forcing anybody to join the APC or obtain their PVC. The allegations are unfounded,” Akinsanya added.
