Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy has reacted to the statement that was made by the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima at the book launch of the former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke.
His statement was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Friday, July 11, 2025.
According to VANGUARD, during the book launch, Shettima explained how former President, Goodluck Jonathan tried to remove him from power when Chibok school girls were Kidnapped. He said Bello Adoke made the former President to understand that he doesn’t have the power to remove a sitting governor.
However, Bayo Onanuga has now reacted to the statement. In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he said Kashim Shettima was not speaking about the the issue in Rivers state. He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu didn’t remove the governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara but only suspended him to restore peace in the state.

“We wish to state categorically that Vice President Shettima’s comments were made within the specific context of acknowledging the author’s past professional conduct during his tenure as Attorney General of the Federation”.
