………INEC unfolds its plans for the continuous voter registration.
The Independent Electoral Commission has unfolded its forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration(CVR) aimed at ensuring that all eligible citizens are registered to vote.This statement was made by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Lagos State, Prof.

Ayobami Salami, while briefing journalists at the INEC state office in Yaba, Lagos.He said the exercise will commence on Monday 18th August, 2025 with an online process that could be done at the comfort of homes or offices, before the physical biometric capturing that would commence on 25th August, 2025. This exercise is expected to continue till 30th August, 2026.

The modus operandi of the exercise stated as follows:
(a). The Online pre-registration will commence on Monday, 18th August, 2025. At this stage, registrants are urged to go online to commence the registration via our website portal for registration: https://www.cvr.inecnigeria.org OR www.cvr.inec.gov.ng.
(b). The In-Person Physical Registration biometric capturing will commence on Monday, 25th August, 2025 in all the twenty
(20) Local Government Area offices and the State secretariat of the Commission at Birrel Avenue, Yaba-Lagos. The exercise commences by 9:00 am and ends by 3:00 pm from Monday to Friday. However, any person on the queue as at 3:00 pm during this period shall be allowed to register.
The following are those eligible to partake in the process:
1. Nigerians that are of sound mind.
2. Those that have attained 18 years of age within the time frame of the exercise.
3. Those willing to replace their damaged or lost PVCs.
4. Those willing to transfer their voting rights to other Polling Units, Registration Areas (Wards), Local Governments or States. All these are within what we call intra- and inter-state transfers.
5. Those willing to update their details due to cases such as spelling errors, change of address, omissions and marital status etc.
Registration Centres;
The exercise for now, will take place at the state secretariat, 6 Birrel Avenue, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos as well as all lagos state Local Government offices.

9. Ibeju-Lekki: Lekki Free Trade Zone Road (Before Akodo General Hospital), Orofun/Orimedu.

In addition, the Electoral Commissioner states that the commission frowns at underage registration as well as multiple registration because, such acts run foul of the provisions of the enabling instruments. Offenders will be handed over to the law enforcement agencies.
He and his management team also met with stakeholders which include political party members,civil society and religious leaders and the traditional leaders to sensitive them on the need to inform their members on the importance of the registration.
